Fun in the sun at Shrewsbury Food Festival

On the first weekend in September we headed to the beautiful Quarry Park in the centre of Shrewsbury for our first proper Food Festival. Like everyone else, we haven't ventured far this year, so it was exciting to be out and about, and talking to lots of lovely people about Proper Good Dairy.

We were a little apprehensive at first, hoping people wouldn't walk straight by, but the flags and the display of ice cold milk drew people in, and we were soon handing out tasters and telling people where they can stock up on fresh and tasty proper local milk, in reusable glass bottles. As usual, the taste of our proper milk was a big hit, with the phrase of the day being 'oh, it tastes like milk from when we were at school!'. It's true, Proper Good Dairy tastes much better than mass processed milk. We pasteurise it gently, and we don't homogenise it so the cream rises to the top, as it should.

We also managed to have our photo taken for the Shropshire Star and have a chat with Paul Shuttleworth from Radio Shropshire - did you see it, or hear us on the radio?

Of course, one of the perks of a food festival is that you are surrounded by food! The smells wafting across the quarry were amazing and made us feel very hungry. So we took it in turns to head off to the myriad food stalls and try some of the goodies on offer. From local pork, lamb and beef baps to more exotic curries, paellas and halloumi fries, we tried it all!

We also really enjoyed the live music, and the real festival atmosphere, and of course the wonderful weather helped too. All in all it was a really well organised and well attended weekend and we shall definitely be back next year!
